Being a “Sunrise/Sunset Retreat”, most of our outdoor activities are purposefully scheduled to happen during these amazing periods of natural splendor. We will use this time to explore (and practice among) the four local energy vortexes and other stunningly beautiful vistas. There will be some hiking involved, but most of our treks will be gentle and accessible (and are scheduled to avoid the powerful mid-day sun).

October is a FANTASTIC time of year to be in Sedona. The sun rises at roughly 6:30 AM and sets at approximately 5:30 PM. So, there will be some early mornings. But, please remember all events are optional and you have plenty of time in the middle of the day to chill out and recharge (unless you have other adventures in mind). Please see Schedule.

We will have at least one yoga (asana) session each day (some more spectacular, others more practice/energy focused). Of course there will be a Contact Yoga Workshop (a popular highlight on all my retreats).

There will also be time dedicated to Meditation and Breathing Exercises (“Pranayama”) each day. Please see the Schedule

All yoga activities will be “all-levels” sessions so you don’t have to be “good enough at yoga” to attend. On the contrary, retreats are a great time to strengthen your practice.

We will be lodging in Moondance Sedona in the Oak Creek Valley with a majestic view of Cathedral Rock. The beautiful, rambling, artistically-styled house/Lodge (including it’s well-equipped kitchen) is all ours for the duration of the stay. There is a pool, places to practice yoga indoors and outdoors plus plenty of places for quiet contemplation or “chill time”.

MOST MEALS ARE NOT PROVIDED with the exception of an informal welcome dinner (maybe Thai food?) the night of our arrival and another (also informal) farewell dinner (on our last evening together). All other meals (including all breakfasts and lunches) are left up to the individuals (or group collaboration). This allows for a sampling of the numerous restaurants and cafes in Sedona but also provides the flexibility to eat what you want when you want.

I envision most yogis stocking up and fending for themselves for breakfast and lunch (if not dining out). There will be time for a grocery run the morning after we arrive. There are at least two good health food markets in Sedona (Yes, there is a Whole Foods).

Sedona is surrounded by stunning nature but is still very convenience accessible. There are MANY good restaurants and cafes (in all different price ranges). If the motivation is there, we may even decide to combine our culinary talents and prepare a group meal one evening.

The mid-days have been purposefully left unscheduled for whatever excursions and adventures inspire you (or just to catch up on your reading and/or sleep). The numerous possibilities for exploration include: Pink Jeep Tour (or similar adventure with another facilitator), lounging by the POOL at Moondance, sampling local cafes and restaurants, a side trips to nearby Jerome, Hot Air Balloon Ride, visiting local shops, galleries, spas or Museum. Please remember “none of the above” is a perfectly acceptable choice for any event or adventure. We will have plenty of time to discuss and plan extra adventures and/or excursions after our roster of attendees is set. Please see  Schedule.

Despite the almost limitless potential adventures, sights and opportunities, the intention it is also a time to relax and attune to the unique and powerful energy of Sedona. You might not even notice it at first, but it is definitely there; to many, palpable. We want to embrace (and even seek) that energy as part of our adventure. Be open to the wonders of nature. Speaking of which, did I mention, the moon will be waning toward new at the end of our stay (a big PLUS for star gazers).
